The National Center for Food Technology (CNTA) is a research and development institution in State Food Technology, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, established by Decree No. 100/075 of 21 May 1993, and revised by decree N ° 100/055 of April 17, 1998. It has a personalized administration with an autonomous management and a patrimony of its own.
Its mission is:
- Promote Research / Development in Food Technology
- Promoting micro-enterprises and agri-food SMEs through the transfer, dissemination and popularization of technologies
- Contribute to the food security of the population through the valorization of agricultural and animal products
To this end, it values ​​traditional and artisanal methods of storing, preserving, processing, packaging and packaging of food with a particular emphasis on post-harvest technology of food crops.
It has a database enabling it to assist promoters in the selection of equipment and machinery needed for the preservation and processing of food products.
It contributes to the resolution of problems that may arise during the installation, the operation of the units.
He is responsible for the administration of research, experimentation and promotion programs, the management of which is entrusted to him by third parties.
He collaborates with public and private organizations as well as individuals interested in evaluating, researching and disseminating the results of his research.
It provides training and recycling in maintenance and installation of food equipment.
It ensures the popularization and the transfer of the technological processes in real environment.
He is the institutional focal point of the CHM-Burundians contributing to the implementation of the Convention on Biodiversity, responsible for providing information related to the transformation of biological resources.
