The CNRE's mission is:
         to be in compliance with and in line with the country's major research objectives based on priority directions;
         to contribute to the development of national policy on environmental research in accordance with the National Economic Development Policy within the framework of Integrated Programs of Research for the Development 
         to contribute to the implementation of the Malagasy Conservation Strategy for Sustainable Development;
