Fondation Environnementale Tany Meva

When it was founded in 1996, the charitable foundation was named the Malagasy Environment Foundation Tany Meva. The foundation is governed by the law governing the foundations regime in Madagascar (law 95-028 repealed and replaced by law 2004-014).

1997: Ecosystem Approach ...
Tany Meva begins his interventions at conservation sites, very rich in biodiversity and endemicity: Seven Lakes Forests, Ankazomivady Forests, Radama Sahamalaza Island, Amber Mountain National Park, Ranomafana National Park, Andasibe Mantadia National Park, Andohahela National Park ... With a vision of integration of the local communities for a better sustainable management, protection and / or conservation, but also the valorization of the natural resources. The fundamental idea was: "The sustainable management of the natural resources for the community development ".

2000: Niche of Excellence ...
Rapid evolution of the Foundation's contributions to more visibility to the preservation of the environment and communities, through specific thematic choices:
• community reforestation, 
• urban beautification "Tanàna Meva", and 
• fight against bush fires.
Priority is given to social and economic development actions favorable to the environment and improving the living conditions of communities.

2004: Thematic program approach ...
Since 2004, contribution to achieving the objectives of the three (3) UN Conventions (Biological Diversity, Climate Change and Desertification Control), as well as the Millennium Development Goals.
Five (5) thematic programs have been launched:
Reforestation / Reforestation Program "ALA MEVA" 
Ecological Energy Program "ANGOVO MEVA" 
Program Sustainable Management of Natural Resources "GDRN" 
Program Applied Environmental Education "EDENA" 
Prize for Environmental Innovation "TOSIKA MEVA"
2009 was a year of transition to the next Strategic Plan.

2010: Towards Community Sustainable Development ...
The Tany Meva Foundation launches its  Strategic Plan 3  (2010-2014) with the new slogan:  " Madagasikara, tany meva!  "Or"  Madagascar, land of wonders!  " Thanks to communities that are conscious, capable and committed to the protection and sustainable management of their environment.

• Financial autonomy of communities 
• Credibility of community governance of natural resources 
• Demonstrated performance of community institutions in environmental management 
• Change of behaviors and practices (agriculture, livestock farming, valorization of forests, types of energy used ...) vis-à-vis the environment and natural resources.
> Proximity approach to accelerate Community Development
The 1st pole of sustainable development is attached to the region Atsimo Andrefana. This resulted in the establishment of a  Tahala Meva in Toliary. 

> Multiple partnerships at the technical and financial levels:
Local Community Organizations, NGOs, Federations, Ministries, the United Nations System (Global Environment Facility - Small Grants Program, World Food Program, UNDP, FAO), UNESCO, USAID, European Union, World Bank, MacArthur Foundation, Liz Foundation Claiborne Art Ortenberg, WWF, WCS, International Conservation, PACT Madagascar, Environmental Health Project - Environmental Change Health Outcomes (EHP-ECHO), Camp Dresser & McKee International Inc.
