The ITGC is an Algerian public administrative body under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. Created by the order of 1/10/1974 on the foundations of the project "CEREALS". It had as first name Institute of Development of Field Crops (IDGC). In 1987, the CGDI became the ITGC by decree n ° 87-236 of November 3, 1987. The ITGC is composed of two structures: Central structures (headquarters) constituted of a general secretariat and five departments. Decentralized structures, nine experimental stations spread throughout the national territory of which 3 in the East, 3 in the West and 3 in the center.During the first years of its existence, the institute has conducted its activities in close collaboration with the organizations such as: FAO, CCCE, CIMMYT.
