Khartoum International Institute For Arabic Language (Mahad El-Khartoum Eldawally Lil Lugha Elarabia)
1974, as a subsidiary agency of Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), within the framework of League of Arab States (LAS). Officially inaugurated in 1977. Also referred to as Khartoum Institute for Preparing Specialists in the Teaching of Arabic Language as a Foreign Language and as Institut international de Kharthoum de la langue arabe.
Aims
Provide post-graduate training in the teaching of Arabic as a foreign language; prepare and experiment new educational modules relating to curricula, books and teaching aids; conduct research and linguistic studies and introduce modern techniques in this field; train specialists in the use of scientific methods to write local languages or dialects in Arabic letters, particularly those related to Islamic civilization; study the orientation and adaptation of Arabic letters to different languages
Activities
Organizes: scientific seminars; expert workshops. Provides scholarships and study grants for students from non-Arab speaking communities within and outside Arab countries. Conducts: field studies in regions characterized by language inter-diffusion; statistical research and laboratory studies of the Arabic language; language surveys.
