Margarine Industries Limited, was established in Mauritius in 1967 through a joint venture between the Currimjee group and the Gesche family from Germany.
In November 2002, the Gesche family retired from the business and sold their shares.
Since then, Margarine Industries Limited is a fully Mauritian public company listed on the stock exchange of Mauritius (Development and Enterprise Market). The Currimjee family owns around 97% shares.
Margarine Industries Limited forms part of the Currimjee group of companies. The company is under the Pepsi Sub-group, comprising of Quality Beverages Limited, Vital Water Bottling Co. Ltd., Central Distributors Co Ltd. and Creative Advertising Bureau Ltd.
Margarine Industries Limited manufactures and distributes Table Margarine (both refrigerated and non-refrigerated type), Fat Spread, Industrial Margarine, Vanaspati (vegetable ghee), Shortening, Table & Industrial Butter and Ghee.
Substantial investment in sophisticated filling and packaging equipment has enabled the company to increase its product range, widen its market share and continuously improve the quality of its product and service.
