Université Méthodiste Au Katanga

Acronym:
UMK

The Methodist University in Katanga was born from the will of their Excellencies Messeigneurs KATEMBO Kainda and NKULU Ntambo Ntanda and by the approval of our Annual Conferences of South-Congo and North-Katanga. His Excellencies wanted to realize the dream of SPRINGER, the missionary father of the Methodist Church in South Congo.
The Springer's priority was evangelism and indigenous education. Thus in 1910, in Kalula (a few kilometers south of Kasaji), they had started a school of twelve young people who at the end of this training had become pastors and teachers. Note that at every move and wherever they went, the Springers preferred to bring with them the Kalula School and the students. This school had a development, that is, quality teachings and a small library. The graduates of this school were pastors and became teachers. They had helped a lot with the establishment of the Methodist Church in southern Congo. This small school named Fox Bible Training School, was going from station to station, growing up, and finally became the Springer Institute that had given birth to the current Kitabataba Institute and the Methodist University in Katanga.
