A seasoned, skilled, knowledgeable and experienced professional working in the gender, agriculture, natural resources management and rural development space. Holds a Ph. D in rangeland management from University of Kwa Zulu Natal.
Currently, a Director and Principal Consultant with ETC Consulting (formerly part of ETC International in the Netherlands), as well as the Chairman of the Steering Committee of Promoting Local Innovations in ecologically oriented agriculture and NRM (Prolinnova Kenya), where he champions farmer led innovations for food security.
Very highly regarded in the region on participatory approaches, supporting farmer led innovations, and his insights and consultancy work in Gender, Agriculture and Rural Development. Has consulted widely in the African region covering East, West and Southern Africa – with work ranging from scoping studies, baseline studies, long term monitoring, endline and impact evaluations and capacity building/training on improved livelihoods, food security, integrating and mainstreaming gender, and sustainable environments particularly in the ASAL areas. Has supported NGOs, International Agencies, Private Sector, and Public Sector (Governments). Among the long list of clients include AGRA, KIT, WUR, Tullow, LTWP, GoK, ICRW, IFAD, FAO USAID, DANIDA among others.
In addition, has implemented projects with Governments and NGOs in Kenya, Somalia, and South Sudan; and provides pro-bono support as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi – LARMAT Department.
